Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Rub Rail corner 25 Revenge 1981

I recently purchased my first Revenge and spending the next year getting used to it and getting ready for an Inside Passage trip next year. I am curious if someone could help me find the aluminum rub rail corners at the stern? They both look as bad as this one and I would like to replace them both. ;o)
Thoughts ideas.

Thanks,
Ken

I recall that this part is no longer available.

Have you polished them?

I personally would keep an ongoing search on websites for them. In the interim.....is the lower portion of the rub rail on the one side deteriorated? If so, I would miter cut it to decent material, buff and polish and duplicate the look on the opposite side. If you have an intact one, bring it to a shop that does sand casting for aluminum and have them cast you one. You might have to create a mirror image or have a member lend you a pair (with the penalty of death if not returned). I had a local fellow who did this for car and tractor restorers, no longer with us and I miss his company.

Thanks for the replies. Both sides are deteriorated so I don't have a good one but I do have a friend with a fabrication shop and will see him in a couple weeks so I planned on asking him if he could make one or repair these.
I will keep searching in the meantime. I haven't polished them but plan on, while I am searching.

Just from looking at the pictures, a good fab shop that does stainless handrails should be able to make a pair from stainless.

Thanks. The shrimp opener for us is this weekend and I plan on taking them off so I can show my friend who has a fab shop in Yakima.

Specialty Marine, one of the site sponsors sell them.

Here is a link: http://www.specialtymarine.com/BOSTON-WHALER-RUBRAIL-END-CAPS-PAIR-CLASSIC-OUTRAGE-18-25-316-STAINLESS-p1128.html

Thanks, I will have to check with Specialty Marine again. I have purchased from them in the past so thought I had already checked their website.

So to be clear the Specialty Marine caps are not rounded or stepped to replace the originals and they could not tell me if they would fit or not. They referred me to Mark at Integrity who has made most of the rub rails for Whaler for many years. He stated the end caps were contracted out so couldn't help me either with the older Whalers. I will have a friend take a look again and see if he can duplicate the curve and wrap in stainless..

Thanks

If it was me, I would contact Ray Martin @ Martin Marine Design. I betcha he can fabricate them.

He does whaler quality work so it will not be inexpensive.
