Original console and seating. Any one know what approximate length for a teleflex steering cable ? I bought a 2001 merc 40 hp ELPTO engine that came with a 16 foot cable im guessing its too long.
Thanks for the help in advance.

I have a 10 ft Seastar cable that I'll be selling in the spring but if you're interested, let me know. The cable # is SSC7910. It came off a 1988 13ft Sport I'm restoring- the cable was too long so I bought a new 9ft cable for the restoration.

Metalman111, With your original interior, are you able to use the original stainless destroyer wheel with a teleflex helm? I am thinking of converting to Teleflex and in process of changing engines on my 1977 11' sport but dont see how the original wheel can be used on the tapered end of the Safe-T helm?

Noyac40, I haven't looked at the ss helm wheel to see. But i bought the engine ( 2001 merc 40 ELPTO ) and the guy gave me the entire console verynice tilt wheel gauges and all , then walking out he asked if we wanted an old kicker he had on the side of the house . Of course. So we got a running sears gamefisher 7.5 for free. So I'll probably use the wheel that was matched to the teleflex cable. I'll put the original up for sale its 16 ft. Off a pontoon.

Thanks - Sounds like you got a great deal. Tilt wheel is a big win ( besides the kicker of course).
