1968 SPORT 13'
Steering wheel came off in my friends hand yesterday. Strange locking system on the shaft. Trying to get it off so I can get the plastic wheel back on, which needs glueing and hose clamp.
I don't believe it is threaded but would like to be sure.
Any one out there with advice?

Can't be sure what you have without seeing it or seeing photos but it may be like my
1972 13' BW. My steering wheel just recently broke off also. The steering wheel hub was molded around an irregular shaped zinc piece. The zinc piece fit onto the tapered steering shaft and was pinned in place. There was no replacing the steering wheel. Standard tapered steering wheels with an attachment nut would not fit.I ended up replacing the entire cable and pulley steering system with a mechanical system.
I would reconsider the idea of gluing and clamping such a critical item as the steering wheel!

Thanks for feed back and I understand the concern of repairing steering wheel.
However I will have aa go at repairing and will give it rigid test.
My shaft is not tapered, I have attached a photo this time.
Thanks

Yes, my steer wheel assembly was just like what you have in the photos. That metal hub was pinned through the hollow steering shaft. I see a hose clamp up inside the wheel. Have you clamped the wheel around the original metal hub?
