Hello, Im looking to see if anyone knows of a 12-14 gallon fuel tank that fits under the front bench of the earlier 15' whaler. The ones I'm finding are bit wider than bench or too tall, even a 9 gallon would be ok. Thanks

I raised the front bench of a 1983 sport whaler I used to own for that very reason. It originally rested on the molded lip of the boat shell and I relocated it to the top of the mahogany runner board that it used to slip underneath. I then added a mahogany cleat on the forward under surface of the bench to provide additional support. Anyway, what exact clearance do you presently have from the bottom of the bench to the deck? I know it's not much and you'll be hard pressed to find a tank that will clear the fuel cap and fitting.

Yes mine is original set up. I made an entire new mahogany interior and didn't think about the forward tank until after the fact. With only about 7" from the deck to the bottom of the bench I'm not finding much out there as you well know. I have an email to a manufacturer asking if they make something, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for the response.

It won’t be cheap but you can have a custom tank fabricated. I used www.speedytanks.com. John Gallo is the owner. Mine came out beautiful and the service was outstanding.
