Bought a 1988 Montauk, 17 this summer. We're pulling her out in a few weeks and I'm going to pull all the wood to refinish it this winter. I'm trying to figure out how to disassemble the reversible seat in the back. Can someone point me to diagrams or a manual that might show the seat in pieces?

The teak seatback is only 3 pieces - the main pre-assembled, screwed and pegged back itself, and the two side blocks that hold the pivot bars. These are though bolted, so to get a wrench on the nuts, you first have to pull out the rod holders. There are two screws at the bottom of each, and you need a long necked phillips to get to them.

The only way is to remove the plugs that cover the screws that hold the boards in place. When you do this, you will most likely damage some of the edges of the plug holes. So, it makes more sense to leave everything in place, and do the best you can. Who cares about the backside of the rear boards, as you can't see them. It is easy enough to do the backsides of the front boards with them left in place, as well as the bottom.
