Guys, whats the rule of thumb for mounting these? I have a new igloo marine elite cooler 94 qt and it doesnt have the space to mount this on the handle bracket like shown in the pictures within the OEM Parts Section. Are some guys just mounting them lower on the sides of the cooler flush mounted instead of on the handle mount? Trying to figure out what my options are. Thanks.

When i put my hooks on I also added some 5200 because there was not a lot of meat for the screws to bite into. We used it a lot for 2 seasons with o lot of bouncing in the ocean with no problems

This is the cooler I have.

If you look closely the handle base is different then the standard marine cooler so I essentaily cannot slide the cooler hook into position on the base. It wont fit. I purchaed the hooks from Sue. I'm wondering now if I can just mount them flush with 5200 lower on the side of the cooler, but I am worried about it holding and not ripping out from the tension of the bungee.

Mallard -
If you purchased the cooler from West, I would return it, order from Academy and save $100.
West's price is just asinine.
It would also solve the mounting dilemma.

Its not the same cooler. The one I have is the elite not the standard marine. It has all stainless hardware and reinforced handles. I already drilled into and installed a new cooler cushion so cant return in. Oh well, I will just have to deal with it and figure out another option.

Seems like there must be more than one version of the Igloo 94 quart marine cooler given the sharp price differences between the leading discount marine suppliers, and some other retailers? Defender Marine almost always has very good prices, but in this case they are at $155, or so, and this makes me question what the $80 cooler is all about.

In doing some research it appears there are two versions of the marine 94qt cooler.
The basic version, as shown at Academy has plastic hinges, clasps and the old handle design.
The Ultra version has metal hinges and clasps with a modified handle design. While the MSRP is $179, I see Target and Amazon sell it for $149. Note Target has free ship-to-store.

I had the basic Igloo 94qt cooler on my Montauk, and it had a hole oriented sideways along the surface near each handle. I put a small stainless carabiner through this hole, and clipped the bungee from the floor cleat through it. routing the bungee over the handle on its way to the clip kept the handle from slapping against the cooler side as well.
I'm not sure if the model you have has this hole too, but this solution worked well for me.

I may have this type of hook you are talking about Dennis. I will try and take pics tonight. I may have to try this. Thanks
