I am looking for information on the stainless trim piece on the teak gunnel ( technical name or aftermarket source ) . There are three on each side. One piece is 5 or 6' the other two are about a foot long . The pieces are about 3/4" wide with a rounded top. I would be interested in any scrap pieces someone may have.
Thanks

Todd

Hi Todd,
I'm stumped on this one. Are you referring to the stainless steel cap on the combing board piece of the gunwale assembly? It is about 3/4" wide with a rounded profile on the top, and caps the top of the vertical board. On my 1985 Outrage 18 it is a single piece about 9' long. Perhaps the later models segmented this part or a previous owner modified it. Or I've got it totally wrong. Do you have a picture?

Rub strakes

There are solid strips:

There are curved pieces that sit on a vertical edge that has been rounded over:

That makes sense Phil. Did the later models have multiple rub strakes? Mine has only a single one outboard of the hawse pipe.

Dennis,

you are correct on the length. ( my mistake as I was guessing, not a very good one at that ! )

Phil,

Thank you for links and correct name.

My 1986 Outrage 18 is all original (I bought it new) and you can see the oirginal configuration of the rubbing strakes in this photo. Dennis has the correct description.

The Teak gunnel version came with 1 rub strake standard on the Haws Pipe.

If the boat was ordered with the optional Spring Line Cleats, then another rub strake was included next to the cleat.
See page 26 of the 1987 Options catalog.
