have to replace my steering on my 13 foot whaler
how much of a difference is there between the 3 vs 4.2 turn steering.
response? is 4 turns too much? effort?
i cant make out what my old setup was(its old and frozen)
i plan on getting a 10 foot cable

If I remember right, when I restored a Classic 13 ft sport a few years ago, Teleflex no feedback steering systems were the state of the art choice for the 13 and there was no option of 3 or 4 turns lock to lock. For the $120 I spent I couldn't be more happy with the installation and performance of this system. Now I think Sea Star bought them out and the Teleflex system is now listed as the Safe-t QC Rotary system. As for cable length I think I bought a 8 footer and it was too short and the 10 footer had a little upward , "curl" to it where it made the curve from the starboard side inside wall to the transom of the boat as it was a little long but this did not seem to hurt performance. If you look real carefully on my personal page at the first picture you can see the steering cable dipping down toward the deck and then back up on the starboard side of the boat when the throttle and shift cables make a much more direct and graceful path back to the motor. Truly a 9 footer would have been perfect but I don't think they made one. My advice is whatever system you buy, get it from a local "brick and mortar" boat store like West Marine rather than from Amazon because it will be easier to exchange should you have issues.
