Hello, my 1977 Montauk 17 has the Reversible pilot seat (RPS) and the plywood base has rotted out and needs replacement. I had replaced the seat cushion and upholstery ten years or so ago, and that is still serviceable, so I don't need the entire seat, I just need to rebuild the plywood base. Is a template for this available? The existing plywood is too far gone to provide a template for tracing.

I recently replaced the wood in my 1977 Montauk RPS seat base and re-used the cushion and fabric/vinyl. The original(?) mesh on the bottom shows the layout of the holes...if you still have that on the bottom. I can take some basic dimension measurements if you want. If you take the old one off and flip it over, you can tell where the curves and angles are by the bends in the old upholstery. I used treated plywood from Home Depot, you can buy a half-sheet there. Also, get the stainless steel staples, they cost about $11 for 1000 versus $3 for 1250 galvanized. Mine used to wiggle side to side and the screws from the z legs would loosen and fall out. It's very solid now.

Thanks for the good advice, Cape Fear. The mesh is still intact, the plywood underneath isn't going to be of any use, it is unbelievable how much it has deteriorated. I'll give it a look when I disassemble, it did not occur to me that I'd be able to see the impression from the wood in the seat but that makes sense, so if I can trace from that I won't trouble you, but it is great to know there is help out there if I need it, and from your user name, I'm guessing close at hand. I've got a project I need to clear before I disassemble, so I won't get to it this weekend, but probably next weekend.
