I have a 1979 Newport 17 commercial red dot, not sure if that makes a difference for this post. I have done a search on this site and did not find the specific info I am looking for

I have been in contact with Barbour plastics to order a new rub rail kit, sent pictures of my rub rail and there is no exact match to what is on there now, Had read somewhere that some commercial hulls might of had different rub rails.

I am not looking for exact original and I want to go all black, my concern is getting a rub rail that will fit properly, because by the time I add transport, customs and currency exchange I have doubled the price of the rub rail itself, can't afford to make a mistake

My current rub rail is 1 3/4 inches wide and just barely covers the lower lip of the deck cap, the solid track is riveted and seems original to the boat and has the red insert which is now pink . Any Newport owners that have changed their rub rail please let me know what brand and model number you ordered irrelevant of the color.

Now back to the re-wiring, god I hope it's in the water next weekend

Get back in touch with Barbour. I ordered a black on black set the exact same style as Boston Whaler but earmarked for for another make of boat. Whaler did not use a black rail receiver for the 1979 22' Revenge. I also ended up getting the red rub rail from them later. If the rub rails are the same (I do not know about which was used on the Newport), I have a brand new 50' piece of the black rubber never installed for $60 plus shipping.

Hi Garris,

The 50 foot black rubber you have, do you happen to have the Barbour model number and approx weight, Need to see shipping cost from California to Montreal Quebec, to see if worthwhile.

The Baurbor numbers are: Black Receiver-R1313, Black Rubber Insert-F850. These are good numbers for some Revenges and all Outrages 1979 to late 1980's. I do not know if they work with a Newport. Good luck. Lets figure estimating the shipping after more research if possible to use. I also have a black used one for free plus shipping. Good luck.

The used rub rail insert is in good condition, no breaks or chunks missing. Just wanted to go new on new. Very usable.

The R1313 is the receiver (plastic coiled piece that mounts directly on the boat) . I have the black insert (flexible rubber) that mounts inside the receiver. I do not have any of the R1313. Please talk with Barbour.

Barbour quoted me the same insert that you have but with a slightly different receiver, I will take your used black insert, free is a very good price.

It will probably fit in my existing receiver, if not I will order one later.
