The boat cover that came with my used boat split a seam amidships, all the way across. It will need to be repaired before I can use it as a cover. It's a travel cover and not a winter cover. I know that ideally the split should be restitched but can I get away with some other type of repair while I try to find somebody to stitch it? Hot glue? Tape? Has anybody experienced a problem like this?

Get the cover repaired properly or risk further damage. Perhaps the cover maker would offer you a deal.

I took the cover to an awning maker for repair. They will repair the split and reinforce the other two seams, probably for around 75.00. Devising a framework to support the cover is something I'm thinking about now. I don't want another split.
