I understand that the original rod holders for the RPS are no longer available from Perko. Does anyone have a recommended alternative, or have any originals for sale? I'm restoring a 1984 18 Outrage and put a new/refurb RPS seat in from Specialty Marine.

I have always used the LEE 90 degree flush mount rod holders, a premium product that looks great in the RPS seatback. They are actually much higher quality than the ones Whaler used. In this photo, you can see both the originals, and two additional Lees installed in the center area.

Be aware that the Specialty seatback is mahogany rather than teak, so it will need more maintenance to keep it looking good.

Thanks for the lead! Your Whaler looks awesome -- nicely done indeed!

The Lee's are for sure the best option, but check the flange dimensions, as they may be wider than the top of some RPS seat backs, particularly one that has been sanded and re-oiled several times.
