I have a 2008 Whaler 130 Sport with the bow lifting eye. Does anyone know if that eye can be replaced with a cleat of some sort? I try to leave my mooring ropes attached to my posts, but that eye is a pain to tie to each time I dock. In the past I have used a stainless steel clip to attach to the eye, but the saltwater doesn't play nice. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks--Matthew

Get a bronze clip. The bow eye on the outside is connected to the lifting eye on the inside with a piece of stainless threaded rod. There is no wood nor is there sufficient glass thickness to support anything screwed to the boat there. If you remove the bow eye, unscrew the eye on the inside of the boat, not the one on the outside. The eye on the outside has a point on the back that sticks into a dent in the surface it is set against to prevent it from turning and if you try to turn it you will gouge out an area around it.
