I'm renovating a 1987 Montauk 17, and am looking for a fiberglass seatback for the reversible pilot seat. Hoping that someone might point me in the right direction. I've tried the internet and Specialty Marine so far without success. I'm even willing to buy the whole RPS assembly if I have to.

Thanks in advance!

Just to be clear.
The original was a Teak seat back up until 1991.

But you want to replace your 1987 teak one with a fiberglass one from a newer year model?
Correct?

These do show up from time to time but I have seen the teak ones more often.

You could also make your own teak seat back from the drawings in our download section.

Sorry for the confusion, and at the risk of offending the purists, yes, I do wish to replace the old teak one I have with a fiberglass one from a newer model (I am not sure of the years when the fiberglass supplanted the wood). Hope I can sell the teak one later.

My motivation here is less maintenance with wood vs. fiberglass. I plan to fish the boat hard in saltwater. I did the same thing before on an 1986 Montauk - the fiberglass seat back, I mean - and it turned out very well.

I understand.

Now we all know for sure you are looking for a Fiberglass version and the teak version will not work for you.

Good luck in your search.

Just another thought.
You may offer to trade your teak version with someone who has the fiberglass version unless you want to keep it for some reason.
