I have A 2004 boston whaler 170 montauk Installing a mills bimini top should I use tape on the gunnels before I drill the holes for the supports Purpose for tape is to keep the fiberglass from possibly cracking. Any advice? I hear the Whaler board is extremely difficult to drill into. Any advice?

Not much different then wood plus you can thread the Whaler Board if you choose.
