Ok so I park my boat at marina for striper season and the day I pick it up someone did a hit and run overnight, they snapped the side rail, some fiberglass damage on gunnel, scratched top of the engine casing, and snapped the one piece backrest of the seat. So I put in a claim and I am getting a good chunk of change back, I will do most of work myself, anyone know where to get a seat for a 2005 130 sport? Also looking for a side rail.

Figured I might as well replace my prop that is pitted. I currently too out at 31 solo, if I have two heavier people with me I sometimes have trouble planeing off, my current prop is 3 blade 14 pitch (816706A40P14 merc black max prop), can anyone suggest a replacement prop that will help me plane off at heavier loads? I forgot if you go down or up in pitch. I realize I might lose some top end speed, any idea how much?

Thanks in advance

Jeff

For replacement parts, I would call the Parts desk at a local dealer. If they are not helpful, I go to the Parts Guru, Sue Lodel at Twin Cities Marine. They ship and are excellent at sourcing the correct parts.

Keep in mind the 2005 130 is not the same hull as the model in production.

As for the prop, you should be using a stainless steel prop. To get better hole shot, you might drop down to a 12 pitch in the same make/model.

Note - Prop characteristics are not standard across brands. A Mercury x by 12 will not perform like a Yamaha x by 12". The blade designs are all different.

Stay in one prop brand/model and go up or down in pitch to dial in the performance.

Thanks for your response, the link is excellent and she already responded.

As far as pitch goes I was considering going down to a 13, but you think a 14 SS would be a better choice?

What is the current wide-open-throttle (WOT) RPM with the existing prop with a light load and just you?

At what height is the motor mounted. In looking at the top bolts, how many empty holes are there ABOVE the bolt?

We need this information to help you make a practical choice.

Remember, you can compare the same brand in different sizes. Once you change brands, the pitch may be different.

I think most props are sized in 2 degrees of pitch increments. i.e. 12p ,14p,16p,18p

Thanks again Phil for your response. My boat is currently at a buddies house (building a house and moved back to apartment) half hour away but I'll go check it out as far as mounting height of engine. As far as RPM at WOT I can't say off hand and won't know until I take it out again which will hopefully be before my yearly trip to lake George for a week of camping and fishing.

As far as props is(Black Max) 10 3/8 x 14 Right - 3
QA2080x
(48-816706A40)

I was considering these two props (same brand as original prop), think I read somewhere it's a general rule to lower it by 2, but the diameter is different in the 12

Quicksilver
(Black Max) 10 3/8 x13 Right - 3
QA2078x
(48-73136A40)

Quicksilver
(Black Max) 10 5/8 x 12 Right - 3
QA2074x

I'm guessing I should probably wait until I can got the proper stats you suggested. That being said, I should mention that I did add a dol fin hydrofoil a couple years ago, and my current prop is not in the best shape, I hit a sandbar a few years ago that stripped all the paint, it is pited but not warped at all.

Thanks again for your time and advice

Also by myself I can hit 31-32 mph, 2 people usually around 28mph, 3 (if I can get up usually around 26 or so. Not sure if this helps
