i remember someone posting a link on here to a company that had switch panels that were custom made and looked like factory whaler ones. i need one for my 1962 as i am nearing the completion of it. does anyone remember the name of the site?

There is a cpmpany in Seattle called Reid Signs. I gave them my old panels to reconfigure and they did a great job.

The panels were wood if they were used at all.
Many boats just used wood instrument panels, even the early Montauks up until 1983. Or, the gauges were mounted directly into the console without a panel.

All the early 16 models were similar to above.

The gauge/switch panels on all of the early Nauset/Sakonnet mahogany consoles were 1/4" mahogany marine plywood. On the later Montauks up through 1982, and early Outrage 21's, they were 3/8" teak marine plywood.

My Outrage 21, which has a console very simialr to the Nauset console, had these panels, and they had to be replaced, so I made some up from solid wood, planed to 3/8".

You will not be able to find these commercially, so either have to make them yourself, or perhaps one of the Whaler wood guys, such as Nautical Lumber or Black Duck Gallery, can make a set up for you. They may even be able to do them in mahogany plywood if you prefer that over the solid wood.
