Hello Everyone,

I became the proud new owner of a 1964 Sakonnet yesterday and am looking for help on where to look for a boat cover large enough for the bow rails. I seem to be getting nowhere locating one online. ...and the fun starts.

If anyone has any direction on this, it would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

(please follow guideline #1 on the front page and use the full 4 digit year)

Check out Mills Canvas and Carver.

The Mills cover design does not go over the bow rail, but around the stantions instead. At least the one I have on my Montauk does.

Take a look at Overtons. They have a huge selection of boat covers, and I think they have specific ones for Whalers that go over the rails. They are less expensive than Mills, although may not be made of Sunbrella fabric.

Carver makes covers specific for whalers with bow rails and without. You chose the option when you order. I have the rails off my montauk for fishing and my carver fits great.

I bought a Covermate Imperial Pro from Overton's. Don't waster your money. It was advertised as a custom/semi-custom cover for a mid-1980s Montauk w/Bow Rails. The bow portion barely covers the rub rail and the rear sags and holds water. It does have a decent vent system and is reinforced at the wear points, but appears to be cut for the later model Montauks (regardless of what the product description stated). The Cabela's custom cover was a much better fit before it was discontinued.
