Within the next few weeks my 1963 Sakonett will be mounted with a 2014 Etec 75. I am going to be trolling with this engine at 1-2mph quite regularly, which the tech said could be achieved after they tweak the motor on the computer a bit, cool feature on these new motors. I have heard that there can be some vibration problems in the railings on these older models? If so would it be wise to have a vibration pad or dampening plate installed considering the amount of time I will spend at close to idle?

No, do not install any pad between the motor and the hull. They need to be firmly and completely connected.

There are several threads on this site regarding noise from rails rattling and the fixes for that. I do a lot of trolling on Lake Michigan with my 1984 Montauk 17 / E-TEC 90 setup and have not noticed any vibration problems.
