Hello,
I've been searching the site for some answers, but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. I recently took out the 40 gallon tank of my 21' 1978 Outrage due to corrosion, and I'm looking for a plastic replacement that will fit where the original tank was. Has anyone done this before? Could anyone point to a product that they know works? I was directed to kracor by a boat mechanic, but they were not helpful.
Thanks,
Greg

A plastic tank is not suggested since they will not fit the cavity. In my 10 years of membership, I have not read of a company that makes a plastic tank that will fit.
An aluminum tank can be ordered by the original manufacturer (Florida Marine Tanks) or made by a local fabricator.
Given you are on the west coast, FMT will be too expensive (shipping cost more than tank cost). I would find an aluminum fabricator and provide them with the original to use as a template.
FYI - Here is a link to Kracor Inc.'s fuel tank catalog.

Florida Marine Tanks did the new tanks for my 21 and my 25 but the shipping to the West Coast will make it prohibitive. An aluminum fabricator can build a new one off the old tank.
