I have been looking for a picture of the drip cap detail that includes which type screw was used to fasten the drip cap to the console door frame. I know the port side door had two screws securing it.

I think #6x 3/4" flat head phillips is the correct screw, but would like confirmation of that. I know the cap has to be removable to be able to access the fastener that secures the top of the door frame to the console.

The aft door uses three (3) screws to secure the drip cap.

The screws are #8 x 1" Pan Head

Let me emend that. I've seen both three (3) and four (4) screws used on the aft door drip cap.

The pictures that Joe linked me to seemed to show that the screw holes in the drip cap were countersunk slightly. Does this sound right?

My 1984 18 Outrage doesn't have these dip caps on either the rear or side consul doors, were they removed or were there some boats that didn't have them?

Doug, yes.

you should have holes where the drip cap was as they all had drip caps that I know of. My 1978 Montauk did as my friends 1977 Montauk. And all the rest of my Whalers from that time frame with louvered doors.

I have seen these doors with and without the top piece.
I have chosen to install them on my Classic.

I did follow the pattern of the fasteners on the door's frame.
The console doors will be equipped in the same fashion.

I would guess that what you saw wasn't original then. Someone probably took it off and left it off.
Your 1975 model would not have had one on the large door as those doors aren't louvered like the ones from 1977 to 1990.

Doug -- As Joe says, yes, the holes were partially counter sunk for the pan head screws.

You are correct on the original bow locker/console doors for the Classic Outrage 19 1975.
All four doors were made of very plain plywood with a thin Teak veneered skin.
No OEM "drip caps" were installed on any of them.
The updated units will be considered as custom updates and not OEM factory installed.

All of the aft console door drip caps were installed with 4 screws as far as I know. Using three would not have made sense, as there is a center screw holding the frame to the console glass that would have been a conflict.

Four screws instead of three does not seems like an overkill.
