I came across this web site tonight (http://www.midstatebattery.com/boxes.htm/boxes.htm) and it looks like the HM-300-W and HM-318-W may be a viable replacement for the original white Whaler battery boxes (http://www.whalercentral.com/photogal...hoto_id=10). Has anyone purchased one of these or seen them in the flesh?

Also came across this site: http://parkit360.ca/shop/battery-boxattery-box

I just might have to give them a try.

After digging a little deeper it appears the original "White" Whaler battery boxes were actually desert tan so a white box would stick out a little bit and I suppose would really look no better or worse than a black box.

White is the opposite of Black in the color spectrum chart, so white would be a closer match.

Here are the original boxes.

That is true but I sensed the original boxes were somewhat off white compared to what I found. That said the cushions I have are a good bit whiter than the desert tan color so I took the plunge and purchased the white box from Parkit. I'll report back with some pictures of it installed once I receive it.

I considered that option but I suspect the paint won't hold up/adhere to the plastic long term...

Krylon or rustolem plastic paint holds up just fine, and if it looks scruffy, take it out of the boat, light sanding and respray. Good as new. There is a photo on my personal page, starting with a white one would be better. Black is hard to cover unless you prime first.

Yup it's an original. Looks a little rough but given its age it's in pretty good shape.
