So I've been doing some digging trying to find some substitutes that wont break the bank for making new wood hardware for my 1962 whaler 13'. Anyone got any suggestions for a good substitute to the standard mahogany?

After checking Teak prices yesterday, Mahogany seemed liked a bargain. lol

White Oak is only about 30 percent less than Mahogany. Why fool around?

White oak is easier to find around here is my main reason.

I am sure you can Google search as well as I can. Shop around. There are any number of hardwood retailers in NC that offer mahogany or mahogany-esque woods that would be suitable.

African Mahogany
Spanish Cedar
Philippine Mahogany
Sapele
Honduran Mahogany

These are all suitable woods.

This dealer has very good pricing. Both the African Mahogany and Spanish Cedar are about $6 per board foot or about what I pay for While Oak here in Seattle
