I am a first-time boat owner, bought a 1998 Outrage 17' with a Mercury 115. The old fuel filter and mount were completely corroded so I removed them and now need to replace them. Gas tank is 54 gallon capacity if that matters. Any recommendations for what type/model/brand of filter? Thanks.

I think you are asking about a fuel/water separating filter?

If so, then Moeller, Sierra, Attwood are some non-OEM brands. All the motor manufacturer's offer their brand.

The question is features and style.

Want stainless or black manifold?
Standard or compact size?
Clear bowl or not.

As long as it's a 10 micron filter, any brand is fine.

If you are asking about the under-cowl fuel filter, stay OEM.

I am installing a Floscan fuel monitoring system. I already have the 10 micron filter in place but Floscan recommended the "Flow EZY ILA-02" 238 micron filter downhill from their monitoring device (Flow EZY has a new set of product ID numbers so call for cross reference). It is a stainless mesh screen in an anodized aluminum housing which blocks out the larger debri in fuel before it gets to the monitor. You service it by cleansing the strainer element and reusing it. Once I discovered this filter I would have installed it even if I was not installing the Floscan device.

Thanks all! Yes I'm asking about a fuel/water separating filter....color/material doesn't matter, I'm told a clear bowl is helpful. As long as it does the job!
