Here is what I see in the fish box area, is the wiring correct?
The switch to the auto bilge does not seem to be connected.

And then, the second pictures shows that the cover does not fit due to the size of the bilge pump.

There is a drain in the bottom, what does that lead to?

Someone replaced the original bilge pump with a full automatic version, but did not remove the old float switch which is now not needed. The full auto version cycles periodically and if senses water will pump.

remove the old float switch and either move the pump around to see if you can get the lid down, or replace with a shorter pump. The drain goes out of the boat to remove water.

Thanks @Kamie

Out to where, the side, the bottom, how is the tubing routed?

What is this on the back wall of the bilge area?

What Whaler model, length, and year is this?

Always helps to mention this so others can help you better.

Rule 1100 (27S) fully automatic = 4 1/2 inches
http://www.xylemflowcontrol.com/marin...tem244.htm

Rule 500 (25D-6) non automatic = 3 1/2 inches tall
(this one needs the automatic float switch you already have)
http://www.xylemflowcontrol.com/marin...le-500.htm

Here is the automatic float switch you have that is disconnected.

Is the switch recommend to be removed with the addition of the full automatic?

What would be the correct removal process?

Many members have many different Whalers and don't always have them listed in their profile. They may also have bought another Whaler that they haven't listed yet so you can see it is always better to list the boat info you are talking about rather then relying on what is in a members profile.

Did I waste my time giving you the links above in my post #6

I owned a 1997 Outrage 17' II for awhile.

unscrew the switch from the bilge and discard, it probably has 1or 2 screws through the bottem of the switch caulk the holes the hole at the back and the hole at the bottem both should go out the transom it never hurts to fluch these and make sure they drain
