I have a 1987 Montauk and am attempting to replace the corroded T-Fitting (that I purchased online) on the rails.
After removing the old ones (basically breaking them apart to get them off) cleaning them all up I realized that when I try to slide the new ones on they won't make it past the bend in the rails...
Anyone run into this issue or have any advise?

You will need to cut the rail in the center of the old fitting and place a "Hot Dog" in there.
Do a search on Hot Dog and see what you come up with.
If I find it, I will post the instructions here for you.
Here is the T-Fitting

Don't cut that railing! No need to weaken it or use a hot dog.
i have a wraparound railing on my 13 and the Ts on the seat backs has zink pox. Had to cut them off. Same problem with getting a new one around the bend.
used two SS clamshell Ts and they worked perfectly. Can't recall the supplier but they are out there

There is no loss of strength when cutting the rail and inserting a hot dog. Some factory made rails (e.g. Montauk bow rail, Super Sport) were made this way.
It is impossible to slide a Tee around a bend of any radius and a hot dog allows a rail to appear and perform as a one-piece and use OE Tees instead of those awful split two-part Tees.
