Hi Folks,
I have recently replaced some of the anchor / fish locker wood components in my 1978 V-20 Outrage. While doing so I noticed a drain plug approx half way up the aft wall port side of the locker. It is definitely not the brass drain plug and I am wondering if someone can identify it for me and explain why it is there. It does appear to be original.
Thanks

Is that a type on V-29?
Looks like you have a V-20
I am not positive, but many Outrage models have a small tunnel for bilge pump wires to run from there to under the console.

I have the same type plug and pull line in my anchor locker, I figured out that it is a fish line for pulling future wires going from the aft bilge pocket to the consol. I think if you dig around in the aft bilge pocket you will find the other end of that line, I reconfigured that line so that when I fish a new line, I pull the line all the way aft there is a loop to connect the new wire. Then I go foward and pull the fish line till it will go no futher. At that point I then go into the consol and pull another fish line that I tied to the loop that I made for the new wire coming in, at that point it will allow being pulled inboard. The way it was originaly installed it would be pulled foward but, when it would no longer pull foward it was up to you to reach down into the consol cable wireway and find the new wire. I have a 1985 18 ft Outrage. I hope this helps and I was understandable.

Yes that definitely helps and very understandable. Should I worry about water intrusion and plug the hole a little better? Right now there is some play with the plug while it is in the hole.

I wouldn't worry about water intrusion as the only place for water to enter is through that hole and the other side of that hole which is in the cable tunnel which is under the deck, also the anchor locker has the lid on it most of the time. I did use a normal caulking to secure the plug in but only to keep it in place and to keep any drips from entering. Glad I could help.
