I have what appears to be a late 70s Outrage 19 with a 40 gal alum tank.
the pick up tube is clogging with what appears to be varnish from old gas. (the boat sat a while before I bot it 1 year ago). I am looking for techniques to clean the tank
Help?
thanks

You have choices, but first get all liguid out of the tank
I assume the tank is still in the boat
1. Toss in a gallong of carb cleaner and some bolts and drive it around for awhile. Then power wash the inside of the tank
or
2. toss in about a gallon of acetone and bolts, drive it around for awhile and then power wash the inside of the tank
or
3. just toss in a couple gallons of water and some bolts. drive it around to really shake it up, then power wash out the inside.
The water works fine, is cheaper but you might have to do it a couple times to get all the varnish out. Once you have it rinsed, then let the tank dry before putting the fittings back on and running fresh gas through it.
