Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: 15 Center Console Dimensions

I am in the process of building a center console for an 1981 15. I would like to know the dimensions of the center console that they started using in the 15s in the late 1980's. It looked pretty well proportioned to the size of the boat. I can't seem to find the original dimensions. I would also like to use a stock windshield, so I need the console the original size.
Thanks for any help,
Robert

Hello Robert,
I have a 1984 15' Sport CC as well. I'll take the dimensions tomorrow and post them.
The windscreen is the same as the Montauk of that era. I ended up transferring the windscreen from my 1988 Montauk to the Sport console, and getting a new one from UPD Plastics.

I believe the original console was 30" wide, which only leaves about 10"clearance on each side. I am in the process of narrowing an original 15' CC console from 30" wide to 24" to get the extra room. I am also raising it 8" so I can stand or sit. I will be using the windshield from a 15" Striper which is made for a 24" console, but the front to back tilt angle is a little different - still looks OK. Since there are many 24" consoles, you should be able to find a windshield or have one made if you go with 24"
Obviously my opinion is that the extra side clearance is more important than using a stock console windshield. If you are building a console, you may want to build a mock up out of cardboard to see how it fits.

I have read the 15' CC used a cut down Montauk CC. One thing I disliked about the 15 CC is the seat position with a short console is still a low slung bench like sports/super sports. IMO it was no better than sport/SS & limited configurations.
