Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Part question for RPS on 2000 18 Dauntless

Sorry if this has been answered, but I can't find it anywhere on here:

My dad has a 2000 18 Dauntless with the fiberglass RPS with the 3-position brackets on each side. Where the stainless rod comes down is a small plastic insert which acts as the pivot point for the seatback. One of these has broken and a local Whaler dealer gave me part # 1566280 which lists this as "BRACKET, BWDA-01 REV SEAT SS/DELRIN". This doesn't sound right, as "SS" would indicate stainless and the part is plastic.
Any ideas what I'm looking for? I've attached a (poor quality) photo link with an arrow pointing to the piece.
Thanks in advance.

Whaler doesn't show the part in their parts diagram.

Exactly. At least the part isn't delineated as a separate piece, although it's shown in the overall diagram of the RPS.

Not sure but I would think a piece of PVC of the correct inside diameter could be split in half and used somehow. Maybe use 5200 to glue each piece onto the z legs.

It's not a traditional RPS like a Montauk, but a bolted, swiveling, single-pole pivot point. So there is no "Z leg", it's just bolted into the fiberglass box under the seat.
The PVC idea is one I've been tossing around if the part isn't available.

Hi. Did you ever find the part? If not, you can buy the delrin "rods" on ebay for a couple of bucks. You will need to cut the slot...just use your existing part as the template. Good luck!
