I am trying to outfit my boat, I just took delivery on a 2013 180 Dauntless.
I ordered it with a anchor roller and I have never had a boat with one of these. i know it is designed so the anchor nest in the roller for short periods. My question is what anchor I should buy and what would be recommended for chain or line.
What do you recomend?

Congratulations on your new boat!

There are different styles of anchors and rollers; you want them to match. The dealer should be able to help - chances are you'll want to go with a plow-style anchor, not a Danforth.

For anchor rode, you'll want around 10 feet of galvanized chain, and then line. I would recommend braid rather then 3-strand line as it's easier to handle. 3/8" should be fine for day stops, but if you are going to stay overnight or leave the boat unattended on the anchor 1/2" would be a better choice. You'll also want a swivel between the anchor and the chain.

Good luck!

ditto but go with the 1/2 braid line, lot nicer in the hand and get at least 3/8 chain...
