I have the seatback plans from our Whaler Central downloads area, thank you!
If I go ahead with the project of building a classic design seatback out of starboard, I would want to use plugs to cover the screw holes in same way as the wooden versions do. I would make them from the scrap starboard I am left with after cutting boards for seat back, but wanted to solicit opinion from folks that have used starboard as to what would be best way to secure the plugs in the screw holes?

Use an epoxy or polyurethane glue.
Be careful of squeeze-out.

I've heard starboard refered to as "high density wax". Nothing sticks to it. Bungs are tapered so they will wedge themselves in and stay there with friction. Make sure the hole is deep enough or the bung is short enough so you can tap it in until flush. You won't be able to chisel or sand the top off like a wood bung. good luck

Fatcat,
I have a black starboard RPS seatback that came off my 1987 Montauk. I pulled it off in favor of a teak replacement. I would gladly sell to another WC member if you're interested and want to save yourself the time. Made by a guy in Wilmington several years ago. Still in good shape. All it needs is a couple new Perko stainless grab handles and rod holders. Let me know if you're interested and I will go find it at the beach house.
