Do they still make this Yamaha speedometer? Its off my 1985 Montauk with a 1985? Yamaha. I cant seem to find it. The only ones I have come across go up to 70 mph. I really would like and exact replacement of up to 45 mph.

Robin is partly correct.
Many motors have a opening in the forward edge of the gear case that connects to a tube. This tube exits the mid-case and would travel up to the speedometer.
The pressure of the water is what is used to operate the gauge.

What other gauges do you have?
What brand are they?
Yamaha, OMC, other?
Do all your gauges match in brand and style.
The gauge you show is an OMC in the "Traditional Series" which is no longer available new.

A speedometer these days is basically useless as most fishfinders and GPS units already have them built-in.
However, I already had the hole for a speedometer so I put a speedometer back in.
All my gauges are OMC "Tech Series" as I have an OMC Evinrude motor.

Joe, I have a Yamaha trim gauge and the OMC speedometer and that is it. I purchased a new Yamaha analog tachometer to put in a hole that is already there with a blank in it. I just purchased the used OMC speedometer Robin posted link to above on Ebay ($20). My dash looks like a train wreck right now but in a week or two it should look new.

No more holes. However I may add a cigarette lighter so I will probably have to make a hole for that.

Just get a bigger motor so you can take advantage of the full swing of the 70mph speedo!

Phil, Any idea if a 1985ish Yamaha 90 would have this opening? Thx
