I have a swim platform on mt 1986 18 outrage. The swim platform looks just like the one pictured in the link below but it is not my boat. The bottom railing fastening on the outside is not tight. It just spins. It appears according to the factory specs that there is no wood core there. I assume just foam? How can i tighten that up? I cant through bolt since i cant get to the other side. Im thinking i can 5200 a 1 1/2 inch square piece of 1/2 inch marine plywood to the transom then drill into that with a stainless screw. Or is there something similar to a drywall anchor i can use for marine use?

Pull the swim platform off. You are going to need a drill, allen wrench and some Marine-Tex. The idea is to stick the short end of the allen wrench into the hole and clean out some foam. Once you have all the holes done and vacuumed out, then mix up marine_tex and fill the holes. Use a syringe so you can fill from the bottom of the hole. Once it sets slightly, rub the existing screws with soap and screw them into the holes. The soap is so you can back them out again once the marine-tex sets. Once the marine-tex sets hard, remove the screws, dab a bit of marine caulk and reattach the swim platform. Should be good as new.
