Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: 15' striper console part

I remember from my dads 1983 striper there was a black textured stick on "mat" stuck to the top of the fiberglass console under the steering wheel. Can this part or material still be had? It is not a must have but it could save me a lot of time and effort matching gelcoat for the hole where my steering wheel used to be. I'm moving my fiberglass console forward 1 foot to the factory striper position for various reasons and that will put the wheel on the right side, again the factory position. I would like to fill the hole with marine-tex instead of a painstaking gelcoat matching session.

Thanks

The original covering was a textured vinyl called Mat-Tac, which is no longer made, but you can buy a yard of peel-and-stick matte black 3M outdoor sign vinyl at any sign shop. It is a very good substitute.

Actually, there is a textured matte black 3M vinyl:

I'm going with a seadek custom fit helm mat. Cfwrap no longer carries the textured vinyl nor do the local sign shops. I'll let you know how it turns out.
