I am looking to replace my six rod holders on my console on my 1988 18ft. Outrage. Specialty Marine sells the rod holders including the wood mounts but I already have the wood. My rod holders are yellowed and have varnish on them.

You can always make your own? They are just PVC pipe, available at any hardware store. Use the ones you have as a template, I think it is 1 1/2 inch PVC.

Kamie, I am trying to keep it OEM correct and the holders are flared at the end. If not available at reasonable cost, I suppose I could paint them to look better. I have stripped all the wood trim off the boat for refinishing. The boat will get a new rub rail and receiver as well as banana cushions for the bow.
Whats even more funny I dont even fish but I like the look and I store my beer cozies in the rod holders. lol

Do yours have a slot for reels with bails? I bought some on line by looking for "rod holders" in Google. I tried making them and they were never consistant for me.

The originals like you have, as kamie said, can be made with PVC pipe. The flare can be done with a heat gun and a billiard ball.

No, just a pvc tube flared at the top. I am not sure of the original color but probably off white.

Not a bad idea. The flares seem to have become misshapen probably due to heat which is another reason for replacement.
Thanks,

if you don't have a pool table with billiard balls handy, a spare trailer ball and a heat gun work

All the info on the console rod holders can be found in the "Downloads" section.
Drawings for both the wood and the pvc can be downloaded there.
