I have a new 26 gallon moeller tank and need to install the brass fitting into the plastic female adapter. What sealant should I use for this application?

The advice I have seen in my initial searches included four recommendations - to use Permatex #2, use Permatex #3, Loctite, or LACO Slic-Tite. I have Permatex #2, but someone posted an another site they would advise against it for this application. Slic-tite doesn't seem to be available anywhere near me.

Plan on using it tomorrow so prefer something readily / commonly available at a marine store if possible.

Just use the plumbers Teflton tape for gas. It is yellow. Non-gas is white. It is available at any hardware store.

If it is a standard SAE tapered pipe thread I would use a brush one pipe thread sealant. It will say weather or not it is rated for gasoline or petroleum products. I would not use any Teflon tape especially going into a plastic fitting, its to slippery

Yellow PTFE tape is for lp or natural gas like in what you burn in your gas grill, not petroleum based liquids

Have you read the instructions from Moeller on the proper installation steps? On my 6 gallon tank, the instructions stated to use two wraps of gas-rated Teflon tape.
