I recently bought a new teak backrest from specialty marine for my 1975 Montauk. I am wondering how to remove the existing one. There are two stainless steel rods that enter an oval piece of teak and Im not sure how to remove this piece.

The oval piece of wood has 4 bolts and nuts holding it on...
Remove the 4 bolts on each side and everything will come off...

Remove the rod holder first with a lonnngg screwdriver so you can access the nuts with a socket.
