I'm looking to add this rail to my 1971 hull. The rail can be found through sponsor links.

1) Will this rail fit a smirkless 16 foot hull? It looks like it should.

2) My boat presently has no bow rail. The conversion kit includes everything but the standoffs, so I will need them as well. Which standoffs are the correct size?

Swamp,

Not to sound trite but you should ask Specialty. It is their kit and they should be able to tell you.

It is not their kit, but that should not matter. Specialty Marine has been contacted.

Hi Swamp,

We do make a kit specifically for your boat. I designed these conversion kits to replace an existing bow rail but, they can certainly be installed even if an original rail rail is not present. To keep the cost down, we do not supply the side mounts because they can be used from the existing rail. However, we can supply the side mounts or you can get them from Eric at Specialty Marine. You need the 2-1/8" long mounts. We supply new base mounts because our tubing has a thicker wall than the original rail so the original base mounts cannot be used. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Regards,
Raymond
