I am buying a 14 ft 94 Boston whaler rage this weekend. The blower on the 115 Johnson engine is not working. The guy selling it says it's been out for A while and he never used it. Is iT a must for me to get replaced ASAP. And is it a easy fix I can just replace. Thanks.

Blower?? As in an engine compartment blower....that an operator turns on for four minutes to evacuate an engine compartment of fuel vapors kind of blower??
If that's the case, theyre super easy to find and replace. Bass pro or Cabellas should carry them.

I could be wrong, but I believe either the coast guard or the state of Maryland requires you to have one. If this is the case, I imagine this is true in other states as well

If you're engine compartment is enclosed, you are required to have an operable blower per the USCG regs. It's not a state thing but a federal requirement.
Besides, having one that works makes sense......

I was questioned about this with my Montauk and 26 gallon tank under the RPS and it came down to whether or not the tank was removable. When the Coast Guard asked me, do you remove the tank to fill it? Without hesitation I said Oh yes sir. Then they replied back where you don't need a ventilation system. Here in California this is a very gray area and can be interpreted in different ways. I did ask where would I vented to LOL
