you that have re-carpeted your bunks on your trailers which brand of carpeting did you use? I see there's about three different ones in just a quick Google search. Do you have any recommendations? I need to order some of quick / opinions or experiences welcome. Thanks in advance

I installed snaptraxx. They are plastic with rubber inserts that snap over the wood bunks. They eliminate carpeting and will last forever. I have had them about 4 years.
They come in colors and let the boat slide on and off the trailer easily.

If you do go back with new carpeting, don't bother to remove your old carpeting, just snug the new over the old. The old carpet will provide additional padding.

I have to admit. I too use the carpet at home depot or lowes. Low cut office carpet is my choice. it is thicker than the actual indoor out door. the amount of time your bunks actually stay wet is so small you will never rot the carpet.

Have never used anything other than remnants from carpet stores and have never had a problem. I used indoor/outdoor.

I used outdoor carpet from Home Depot and applied carpet to bunks using stainless steel staples. It has been over three years and they still look great.

Thank you all for your replies so far and as far as snap tracks that's an interesting product I wish I could see one in person. I did a search on bunk trailer carpeting and came up with several ones that are made for this application and it was about 20 bucks for what I needed on Amazon. Please keep all opinions and comments coming although I'm very busy right now I do get a chance to read them just don't have enough time to post reply sorry for being so short. someone had put shag carpeting on my new harpoon 5.2 trailer and it's totally gone so I will be replacing it. I just haven't made my mind up which one I want to get Here's what I was talking about

Trailer bunk "carpeting" isn't really carpet; it a very loose, tough synthetic fiberous padding. Any boat store will sell it. The one problem some folks have is if their bunks are longer than 12 feet. The rolls are all sold as 8' or 12' and you need just a little more than 12 feet to cover a 12 foot bunk. Shouldn't be a problem with a Harpoon.

Be sure to use either stainless steel (good) or Monel (better) staples when securing it.

I figure 12 inches wide is more than enough to wrap the bunks and their lesson 6 feet long more like 5'8" I will look for some good stainless steel staples, thank you for reminding me and I will a search on "Monel staples" I'm not sure what these are but I'm going to find out thanks again Tom

Monel metal staples are stocked at most decent hardware stores. They are quite expensive.

The carpet is available from trailer supply stores and like Tom mentioned comes in 8 and 12 foot lengths. It lasts longer than carpet remnants, and you don't have to cut it lengthwise. If your bunks are made from pressure treated yellow pine they can be difficult to nail I use galvanized roofing nails nailed to the bottom of the bunks. A roofing nailer makes this an easy job.

I used starboard on my bunks, 3/4 inch with counter sunk bolts through the wood bunks, will last a life time, and the boat slides right off

Did you buy 12 foot sections? Or piece shorter sections together?
I am quite interested in this. Last night was my first Starboard experience. I manufactured rod holders under the gunwale out of it. It is easy to work with and looks good too.

Starboard is a neat material, however you need to through bolt it to hold fast, threads do not hold in star board. And I have not really found anything that glues it together either, but I know there is something out there. I did however use brass furniture inserts (screwed into the starboard) with threads on the inside, I did this to flush mount my electronics in my larger boat, but made it removable at the same time (keeps the electronics out of the weather and no thief problems) can give you some pictures of this as well...

Yesterday I bought some Arrow stainless steel staples to use to install new carpet on the bunks of my 13 Sport's trailer. I bought them at Lowes where I get a 10% Military Discount. Buying a box of 1000 staples cost me 1.13 cents per staple. Monel is not readily available in my immediate area but I reckon the stainless will out last the carpet.

I almost bought the power stapler but decided it was not a good value given how infrequently I use the stapler. If there is a next time and if my arthritis has worsened I'll buy the power gadget.

I went to the local store that builds trailers to get some new hubs for my trailer and asked them what they use and this is what they sold me it was $1.25 per foot 12 inches wide. They had other sizes also. I also took a router to the edges of the 2 x 4 with a half inch radius Before applying the bunk material. Fastening them to the trailer I use 3/8 stainless steel T nuts and stainless steel bolts and washers.
