The aluminum hawes pipes on my 1984 boston whaler have some sort of clear coat on them. the clear coat is compromised in places and has corroded underneath. I removed the clear coat and corrosion by wetsanding and now have bare polished aluminum. My boat is a freshwater boat. Should I just put a coat of chrome polish on every year or should I recoat. Does anyone know the clearcoat that was used originally?

What model Whaler is this as you don't have it listed in your profile?
Most larger models used "Marinium" fittings like the cleats.

Those are made of Marinium and should only need polishing...
Can you still see the words "Marinium" stamped on them?

It has some sort of logo, a "W" with a "C" through it.
