Just thought I'd update everyone about the C24 Fuel Tank on the 17 Montauk. I just got off the phone w/Pate...the current price for a C24 is $566 + $45 shipping to NC...$611 total! Since we found a crack in my 18 year old tank (plus 1 previous repair) I feel compelled to replace it. I'm now going to be looking at a SS or Aluminum of equal size & capacity to fit under the seat. Please let me know if you have any alternative sources/ideas. Thanks

Tempo makes a 19 gallon and 27 gallon for the Montauk that fits under the seat. I have the 19 in my Montauk and have been very happy with it. I think the 27 gallon is somwhere south of $200. These tanks are the typical red plastic so they aren't the cleaner looking off white Pate tanks, but they are still nice and work just fine.
Good luck on your decision.

Try Moeller 26 gallon from Cabellas. $135 or $150 with shipping to SC. Caveat - i have not actually installed the tank. it is supposed to fit but cap looks a little High profile so it may stick out from the RPS a bit. i will share my installation experience.
i figure i could buy 4-5 moeller tanks over the next 20 years and still come out even if not ahead compared to the Pate.
The old Pate tanks don't do so well with the new ethanol mixed gas. Don't buy one used!

Well, after much debate, I opted out for the Tempo 27 gal red tank. Will take the $400+ savings and put it towards our new Jockey Red Canvas that's due next week. Under other circumstances (almost complete refit-motor, steering, controls, gages, sonar/gps, seats, & canvas) I may have bit the bullet & gone for the Pate, but it has to stop somewhere, and this was a discovery item during demo of the center console. Besides, I know this new Tempo is good to go on the ethenol issues. I hope to soon be starting a page here to document the transformation of A Little Madness. The demo pictures will make you cry!

Can you help me. I saw your old thread on the Pate gas tank. Is a pate tank with a sticker on it that says that the tank is safe to use with ethanol or alcohol a safe tank to use with the gas we have in 2011

Patti -
Short answer is no. Do not use the tank. Unfortunately there is no market for used fiberglass tanks so drain it, let it air dry then cut it up and put it in your trash.

Well said Phil.
Sad. One of the tanks I cleaned was a 30 gallon fiberglass tank in a 20ft Bertram. It was a work of art in fuel tanks.
