I have the 1983 outrage and just about to repower with 2011 e tec 150. What prop is recommend?

Hi, see if your dealer has props to loan you to try out, it is a BRP program to ensure you get the correct prop for your application AND the engine see's OPTIMUM RPM. The engine hieght also plays a major roll in performance as well. The AV plate needs to be about 1 1/2" above the keel line. Try the REBEL line of props from BRP and see what devlopes. I run the viper and would like to try the rebel to see what developes, someday.

The 2011 Evinrude E-TEC 150 uses a 1.85:1 gear ratio and has a 5850 RPM redline though its Optimal Engine Speed range is 5500-5600 RPM.
Given that, you will want a 17"-ish pitch propeller. The 14-3/4" x 17" BRP Viper TBX would be the preferred OE prop over the 15-1/2" x 17" Rebel TBX.
An even better prop would be the 14-1/4" x 17" Stiletto Advantage 4.75 (or its Turbo 1 sibling), which would also cost less too.
Be sure the motor is mounted at least "two holes up" on the transom.

The optimum RPM's for the 2010 E-Tec 150HP was 5500-5600 RPM, so I assume the 2011 will be the same. You need to prop your engine to reach those RPM's. Make sure the dealer doesn't install it all the way down and start with a 17p or 19p prop. You can even start with the prop you were running on the boat, assuming it will fit the new engine. You will then need to test with your setup and provide RPM at WOT and your speed. With that info and your desired results then prop suggestions can be made.
