I will be adding Rod Holders to my RPS seat back on the 1998 Montauk I picked up in October. They were gone when I bought the boat. I have new ones on the way(close to OE) but am not sure how they should be installed. I know there is more to it than just slipping them into the hole on the seat back. Can someone give some instruction or point me to a video or link that would give me some idea? I have searched and not found much. Thanks.

Mine just slide in and out of the RPS. Where did you buy them from?

A guy named Tom Clark in a Seattle. He makes them. I think the holders are supposed to screw in at the bottom somehow.

Yep he’s the right guy to get them from! In the rod holder there will be a pin but that is just to stop the fishing poles. You do not need to screw anything (80% sure) just place them in and your good

Ok. I thought there was a wooden plug in the bottom that came from the holes removed in the top of the RPS. That was inserted in the bottom of holder then somehow fastened at the base...

You mean the Tom Clark, from Seattle. He is one of the Whaler guru's. :)

Since he fabbed them, he most likely test fitted so I would ask him for his suggestion.

This has been the case with the two RPS I have disassembled. There are a couple of phillips headed screws through this plug. I had to buy a very long screwdriver to remove them.

Wait sorry I believe I was wrong. There is a piece of wood on the bottom that you just screw in. Just looked on the inside of my RPS and that wood is rotten

Here is a tip:

WhalerCentral has focused on "OEM Part Info and Photos" since our beginning in 2003.
Hence we have 15 years of Part Info and photos located in the Icon at the center/top of our home page.

Click on that Icon and see all the OEM Part Info and Photos we have as the information you seek is there with a photo.

Also, several years ago I gave Tom W Clark my old original RPS Rod Holders as I switched mine out for Lee's Vertical Rod Holders. Not sure if they are the same ones you have or not.
See your other discussion here:
http://www.whalercentral.com/forum/vi...d_id=24588

And here are my Lee's which I felt were much better. Same ones that Finnegan showed is his response in your previous discussion.
