I have a 1965 Eastport 16 and I am looking for the templates for the pilot seat support and the rear seat boomarang. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks, LI Ken

You will find in the Resources-Downloads section of this site, factory specifications and drawings for the pilot seat for the Nauset/Eastport models and the stern seat for the Eastport. Your 1965 Eastport is referred to as the 16 foot 7 inch hull.

I do have the plans that you are referring to, but in both plans they refer you to templates for the pilot seat support and the rear seat boomarang. I cannot seem to find them. Any suggestions?

Yes, I figure the templates would have been an item that was on hand at the wood supplier to use to cut each piece. If you want actual cut templates to work with, call Bob, located in Haverhill, MA., 978-837-8808, a master craftsman who creates Boston Whaler interior parts for all of the Boston Whaler owners in the area. He can make a piece for you to order, and mail it to you. He has done this for many people, and even ships his pieces internationally.

Bob has a Craigslist ad in the Boston-boat owners section, entitled: Boston whaler Mahogany wood consoles and seats (Haverhill).

The fixed pilot seat support measures 17 3/8 inches height from front base at floor cleat to seat bottom.
The base measures 14 5/8 inches front to back at floor cleat.
The seat width front to back measures 11 3/4 inches.
The height of the support at the back measures 28 3/4 inches.
The seat back angle cut is @105 degrees, and measures 11 3/4 inches from seat bottom to top.

Sorry, I do have measurements for the 3 L-brackets on the Eastport rear seat.

Thank you so much for the measurements. I created the template using a CAD program and it all looks great except for height of the support at the back.
It comes almost to the top of the back of the seat. In the photos I have seen, it looks like it is about even with the slots in the back of the seat. At 28.75" it almost comes to the top. Just checking to see if 28.75" is correct. Thanks, Ken

Yes, I can confirm the 28 3/4 inches is the height of my pilot seat support. And, yes, you are correct that at that height, the support will be higher than the handle slots in the seat back. I can send you a photograph of my pilot seat assembled, but unfinished, so you have a good reference of how it looks. You will need to activate your email in your profile so I can send it to the correct address; the email in my profile is no longer valid.

I have also been stumped in trying to find the Eastport rear seat dimensions. It would make a very functional upgrade to my 1972 Nauset.

Any first hand experience with the original boomerang dimensions/drawings (OR a suitable alternative design) would be appreciated.

Neil

(EDIT: please follow the guidelines at the top of this page and use the full 4 digit year)
