1976 Montauk 17 Need Advice

Member Personal Page Posts: 90 Comments: 0 Joined: 09/15/17	Looking to pick up new/used Montauk. I like the older late 70's models in particular. I am contemplating a 1976 at this moment. Comes with a rebuilt 1997 Suzuki Outboard w/ only 50 hrs on it since rebuild. I've done some research - one thing I know is to check for how it sits in the water to see if the hull has been compromised at all and any water may be getting in. What else should I be asking and looking for? Member Posts: 30 Comments: 0 Joined: 07/05/16	That is a nice looking boat but I'm not sure it's a 1976. I have a 1977 Montauk and the console looks different. Also, my boat has louvered console doors on the side and under the helm. That looks like a newer console. In my opinion, a 65 hp engine is going to be a little small. I have a 75 Etec and I wouldn't want any less.
