I found a complete cable steering system including the stainless steel standoff cable clamp on CL for a great deal. The cable is 8' long. For thise of you that have switched from wire rope steering to cable steering, did you run the cable in the same location as the wire rope, or did you run the cable under the rear seat along the starboard floor? I am trying to decide the best plat to run it.
On my 1966 Whaler Sport, the more modern Teleflex steering cable took the same path as the original wire and pulley steering. That is, through a hole in the starboard seat clamp and back from there. You must not exceed the minimum bend radius the manufacturer specifies for the cable.
I didn't do the conversion, but it worked out well for me.
