I have been in contact with another Boston Whaler owner who believes he needs to remove his fuel tank (I did mention to him joining this web site would be helpful). He claims that he has to cut into his deck for access. This seems odd and invasive to me. I have the 22' 1979 Revenge with the same but modified issue (only needs a 4' deck cut or cuddy removal) which Whaler later corrected. Could they (or did they) repeat the same issue with the 1998 23' Conquest? Thanks for any feedback.

Maybe.

There was a period in the mid to late 90's when they added a second liner to some models and the tank was not accessible.

Here is a photo from the 2000 Catalog. I think I see the floor seam.

Have the owner get you a photo of the floor.

Phil,
Another member of the fishing club has the same model Conquest who also removed the fuel tank. He posted pictures........my goodness.......what was Whaler thinking! The cut for access was directly behind the helm seats (seats sitting on a cast in place storage area). He posted pictures of the cut. No reinforcement underneath the cut. You have to to what you have to do.......a shop in Oakland CA did the work and the owner was pleased with the outcome. Makes what I have to do with the Revenge minor by comparison. I shake my head in wonderment with what designers/architects come up with.
