I just finished cleaning and painting the z braces on my 1984. I wet sanded the braces the used a color matched Krylon paint for plastic. Looks great in my opinion. View my personal page for photos.

Thanks - They do look great and I like the addition of raising them to give more clearance to the fuel tanks.
Finally got some time off to start up again on working on my boat (sounds so good - "My boat'!!!). Refinished the badly weathered teak, painted the seat Z supports, and found someone locally that made the ice chest cleats (at a great price if anyone needs any wood project help - let me know).
Attached a pic of before and after of the Teak...it definitely needed some TLC!
Time to put it all back together again.
Questions:
1. Any "gotchas" in installing the ice chest cleats? Length of ss screws? Pre-drill the holes? etc...?
2. I took off the Evinrude decals off the engine cowling. Has anyone put their own on? Where to purchase?
